My desktop computer crashed last week. I turned it on, and it kept rebooting over and over and over again.
Thankfully, it only cost me $55 to repair.
And the repair place is just up the street. The guys there were real nice (I would be linking to them here if they had a website, but oddly enough, they don’t!) and even called me to let me know what was up, what they could save and couldn’t save, and how much it was going to charge.
Basically they weren’t able to save a thing.
They had to put everything back to factory default and re-install the operating system.
This kind of thing can be an internet marketer’s nightmare.
But, I wasn’t the least bit worried.
Why?
Mozy.

Hi Carrie!
That happened to me during the summer. It was quite stressful. Luckily, I have a good ‘techie’ friend who was able to spend the afternoon trying to fix my laptop. He ended up having to re-set it to the factory settings, but not before saving all my files on an external drive. It was easy to put the files back on after the laptop was up and running again.
I had to reinstall all my drivers (modem, printer, etc..) I did lose a few programs from the C drive, but nothing I’ve really missed!
It was a valuable lesson in the importance of back-up and using external & virtual drives for storage.

Yes Backup is super important. And we all learn this the hard way at least once.
Thanks for the tip on the great backup service.
Carrie,
You’re the answer to my prayers or at least this post directed me to the answer! For the past few days, the thought kept coming up that I need to backup my computer. In addition to having a number of training programs/resources and research saved to my computer, I’m in the process of creating my first info product. I surely don’t want to lose all that info and have to start all over again. Thanks for the recommendation!
Sorry for your computer crash. Even if you have all backed up it takes time to go back to work.
It happened to me two times when I was writting my thesis, but fortunately I had backups of the important things.
Thanks for your recommendation. It looks interesting.
Ah yes, Mozy has saved my butt a few times!
