30 Days, 30 Articles

Darn that Kelly McCausey.

She is always putting ideas into my head. Like a couple of years ago, this thing about starting a podcast. She is always challenging me to do stuff.

Like this recent blog post about breaking a traffic plateau. She wrote about the need to do something more or different when you hit a plateau – doing the same old, same old will get you the same results. And then she said this:

“I know content site owners who distribute 30 articles per month on a consistent basis and trust me, they see the fruit in terms of traffic.”

I thought that was pretty insane. I mean,

30 Articles a Month?!

Only.

I couldn’t get the idea out of my head.

What would change in my business if I wrote and distributed 30 articles a month?

Wanna find out?

I’ve decided to challenge myself to do just this. Because the more I thought about it, the more I realized it wasn’t that crazy. I write on my blog every day. A blog post is often the same length as an article – sometimes longer.

Why couldn’t I write an article each day to distribute?

I can. So can you.

Think of how all those articles would help your traffic, your affiliate income, and your product sales. Those articles could be repurposed later for emails, blog posts, your affiliates, reports, products, etc…

So, if you want to join me in a 30 Days, 30 Articles challenge, leave a comment.

I’ll put your name and link up here and we’ll do a weekly check in, each Friday to hold each other accountable.

If you’re new to article marketing, check out: Easy Article Marketing (co-authored by that darn Kelly McCausey)

Some article writing cheats and shorcuts I plan to use:

  • - Going back through my blog posts and creating articles out of them
  • - Reviewing audios I’ve created and transcribing them into articles
  • - Look at email replies I’ve written and see if there are any mini article ideas in there waiting to be fleshed out
  • - Looking at website stats to come up with article topic ideas
  • - Writing book reviews and other product reviews (article directories accept reviews, so do review blogs)
  • - You got any brilliant suggestions to add? Leave them in the comments.

I look forward to reporting on my (and your) progress Friday. :-)

  3. Kelly says:

You noticed I said ’someone else’ was writing 30 articles a month? LOL!

I’m in! I’m in! Good idea Carrie!

Why do I feel like I’ve swallowed a watermelon?

  4. April says:

Ok, I’m scared! But sign me up anyway…

  5. I’m in too. OMG I may throw up. I agree with Kelly, I feel like I’ve swallowed a watermelon. And I agree with April, I’m scared. LOL Time to step out of my comfort zone and get business moving.

I must be crazy but count me in, it will be a challenge for me. I am very new to this but I do enjoy writing. I still don’t feel I’m up to par in my writing but I am accepting the challenge. I am definitely stepping out of my comfort zone.

  17. Annette Kerr says:

Hey, ok I think this is the kinda challenge I need to focus on! Great idea Carrie / Kelly!

    I’m up for it! Let’s get writing!….

  18. I love this idea, especially being held accountable on Fridays.

I may drop the ball this week coming up. My husband is home after about a month away (I lost count) so I don’t suppose that he will be impressed if I tell him I’m busy writing articles.

But I will do my best and get right on it the following week when he’s back at work.

Any ideas of best places to submit articles?

A good way to create a fresh article is to read a PLR article on a subject (or any other article for that matter) that you want to write about and then rewrite it completely in your own words and thoughts. It is a good way to inspire and get the brain moving.

Also, magazines and books have a ton of good ideas. I just cleaned my cookbook and cooking magazine collection out and have a ton of them to do. Maybe I should get it done for the challenge, great timing – their sitting on my kitchen table right now.

  19. Great Idea, Carrie!

I have been thinking about whether or not to do this or not with the new baby coming and all.

But I am in and will give it a try, nothing like seeing the results of something with alot of effort.

OK, you pulled me in .

I will have wireless connection for my laptop set up, so that will give more leverage when the baby comes to get the articles completed instead of at my desk.

    okay.

  20. This could be the push I need to get myself seriously into article marketing! The one, *sheepish grin*, yes one article I wrote got some serious Search engine linkage.

  21. Diana Walker says:

Me too, me too! Wow – this is a huge challenge, Carrie, but I see lots of support here, and I would like to join the challenge.
    Diana

  22. Fran Gratton says:

This is a tremendous challenge. It’s making me get off my but_ an get going with this important part of marketing my business and creating content for my website.
    Keep the good ideas coming!

  23. I’m in the middle of re-launching my site/blog (after consolidating 4 sites into one) and am moving to the second phase of major traffic push … and then I saw Kelly’s post on WAHM 2.0 (sparkplugging) leading me to you! So, it must be a sign that I need to join w/ you all.

My article marketing in the past has been sketching and random at best, but now that I have tons of content to cheat with (my book, radio show transcripts, 2 years of blogging), this does not sound as scary. :)

    So, I’m in!

    Off to write…………..

    hehe!

    Love,
    Cindy

  32. Jenn Rogers says:

  40. Jim Turner says:

Wow… this is quite a challenge and I’m a writer – copywriter that is – but to come up with 30 articles in the month of September… I’ll definitely be utilizing your cheat tips above.
    Cheers!

Ok, Carrie, I can’t drag my feet anymore and I see others who were dragging their feet have joined so that makes me think “why can’t I?” so here I am. Count me in! Add me to your list! I’m taking this challenge. Now, off to come up with enough topics to make it happen!

  42. Oh I am so in!!! I needed a good swift kick in the butt. I am very much looking forward to getting this started. I am also in the process of redesigning my website as well as working out some Squidoo pages for the60-Day-Squidoo-Challenge. This challenge will help me stay in gear with creating content all across the board. This is exciting! I’ll get started today!

  43. Okay. I guess I need to get my butt in gear. I’m in.

  44. Ok, I got 3 down, 27 to go!

  45. 1 article down, 29 more to go.

  46. I love to write so I’m ready to take on the challenge. I’d love to share articles with anyone who writes on women in business or baby boomers.
