23: Mozy on over to this site

A couple of weeks ago I shared that I have gotten serious about doing website and database backups. In addition to using CPSite Saver to backup my cpanel hosted websites and databases, I also found this cool little tool called Mozy.

Mozy, for just a few bucks a month, backs up your hard drive. How many files do you have on your computer that would cost you lost of time and money to retrieve if you had a system failure? (Or in my case, a 16 month old who can’t keep her hands off my desk, lol!) You probably have ebooks, articles, reports, audios, etc… and your CPSiteSaver files too!

Of course, you could burn all this stuff to a disk, but then you would have to worry about where to store it. With Mozy, you just double click on the icon anytime you want to do a backup (or you can schedule them to be done automatically), and all your data is saved to a safe offsite location.

You can learn more about Mozy by clicking HERE.

Take a look at IDrive-E. It performs totally hands-free automated backups of data which I don’t think the product you use does. You can backup 2GB of data absolutely free with no limits on backups or restores and upload or download sizes which means that the backups/restores are without any catch.

Besides a simple sign up and installation, this user-friendly application interface can be used even by novice users. You can backup any type of file, including open files. The backups are incremental that transfer only portions of file that have been modified or changed since the last backup.

Restore operations are really easy and can be done with a simple drag-and-drop operation. The application has two interfaces for the users to do backup and restore related operations. The ‘IDrive-E Classic interface’ offers a very simple and intuitive user-friendly interface to backup and restore files and folders, schedule backups for a future data and time, exclude files and folders and delete files and folders. The ‘IDrive-E Explorer view’ is a easy to use interface for quick restores. The application and service stresses a lot on Internet security and transfer of data on Internet with encryption. This makes the service reliable and safe as your data cannot be accessed by anyone.

I hadn’t really thought that much about backup until I read this. Mozy may be just what I need. Thanks.
