A Clean Slate

My desktop computer crashed last week. I turned it on, and it kept rebooting over and over and over again.

Thankfully, it only cost me $55 to repair.

And the repair place is just up the street. The guys there were real nice (I would be linking to them here if they had a website, but oddly enough, they don’t!) and even called me to let me know what was up, what they could save and couldn’t save, and how much it was going to charge.

Basically they weren’t able to save a thing.

They had to put everything back to factory default and re-install the operating system.

This kind of thing can be an internet marketer’s nightmare.

But, I wasn’t the least bit worried.

Why?

Mozy.

Can $2 Buy You An Internet Marketing Education?

Perhaps you’ve read some of Jarod Lam’s guest blog posts at Alice Seba’s Sweetie blog?

Jarod has been sharing some incredibly helpful information and advice there and has something even more exciting going on called Startup Rebel.

On the site, Jarod has a report that reveals the secrets of a $410 million Adsense website. No that’s not a typo!

I Need Right Now Money

I love having an online business, and will preach that from the rooftops to anyone who will listen. But there is a problem.

Sometimes people come to me because they need money NOW. Perhaps someone has lost a job or there is illness or whatever, there are different reasons for it but the solution is the same: Right Now Money.

Building an online business takes time, and for it to truly be a lifestyle business, you often have to reinvest your initial profits.

That won’t cut it for some people. There are circumstances that make that not doable. While I highly recommend building up a more passive income model alongside whatever else you’re already doing, if you need Right Now Money, there are several ways to get that.

That is another quick way of earning income.

If you need Right Now Money, VA work or transcription are a great way to go.

Two sources of information I recommend to help you get started making money now.

One is the How To VA guide put together by three gals I trust implicity for their knowledge: Nicole Dean, Jen Houck and Nell Taliercio.

These ladies all earn money offering their services to other business owners and have awesome advice for you. This guide even includes 5 templates to make it super easy to build your own website to showcase your services. Everything in one package.

There is another one I read that was created by the women over at Moms Talk Biz: Guide to Starting a Virtual Assistant Business

This one is a more “quick and dirty” info guide that you could read in an afternoon and get going. Great if you already have a website set up.

The second idea to generate Right Now Money is general transcription.

Not medical transcription which requires specialized knowledge. General transcription only requires ears and fingers and keyboard.

General transcriptionists are hired to transcribe all kinds of audio into text. For example, I hire a transcriptionist to type out my podcast interviews.

Don’t let your need for quick income deter you from working from home! It’s also not necessary for you to search for a work at home job either.

I think it’s easier to start your own service business and go out searching for clients rather than slogging through scammy work at home opportunities to find a real one.

Of course, once you decide to start offering your services you will need to market yourself and find clients. One of the best ways to do this is through networking. All of the people I’ve ever hired to do various things for me in my business came through word of mouth and networking.

I’m hearing great things about SheLancers to get more clients for your service based business. And of course, Mom Masterminds is a wonderful place to network with serious minded business owners. Get out there and do some offline networking too.

Quiet But Busy

I’ve been a little quiet on this blog but very busy. Mostly, finishing up getting my new place in order. It’s amazing how long that can take! You don’t really know where to put things until you live in a space and figure out what works. Everything is “organized”, but not necessarily functional if that makes sense.

One thing that is helping me stay on top of things is my handy Todoodlist. :-)

I know some of you are familiar with it because you’re Twittering about it. I love this system. It’s much easier to implement and remember than GTD, but along some of the same principles.

A few things I wanted to say and one announcement too.

I did an interview for Virtual Perception. This is a quick discussion about staying motivated when things aren’t going your way in your business.

I’ve also got a pretty exciting new development. I became a licensee for the Joy of Connecting. I have enjoyed attending a few of these groups and decided to launch a group in my area.
