Keeping Up Business Momentum in Winter

Friday, October 20th, 2006

I don’t know about you, but once the cooler weather sets in,
I have the urge to head to the Appalachians, sit around a
campfire and sip cocoa with my family. It’s a bit harder
for me to focus on business with the Autumn leaves so
lovely!

What about you?

I have a couple of ideas to help you keep the momentum
going in your business even while you play a little bit.
Soon enough it will be too cold to spend much time out
of doors, so better go enjoy it now :)

Blog When Nobody’s Home

Just because you are out playing doesn’t mean your blog
has to shut down. If you use WordPress you can schedule
blog posts in advance. Write a bunch of them and have
one a day added automatically. If you use Blogger, you
might want to write several posts, save them as a draft,
then pay a Virtual Assistant to post them for you.

Keep In Touch With Subscribers

Most newsletter management systems allow you to schedule
broadcasts. If yours doesn’t, get a new one! I use Aweber and highly recommend them.

Load up your autoresponder with informative emails to keep
your customers and subscribers from forgetting you.

Invest In Strategic Advertising

My favorite form of advertising is free, but spending a few
dollars towards some valuable advertising can bring you new
business while you do other things. It’s a smart investment.
For instance, Kelly McCausey’s WC magazine offers VERY
reasonable advertising costs. There is still room in
her Winter issue. The deadline is October 25 so don’t
procrastinate on this one.

Get Others to Publish You

If you’re doing article marketing (and you are, aren’t you?!)
why not have iSnare send out several of your articles to thousands of publishers?
While you’re away from your computer, other people are adding your articles to
their sites and getting you additional traffic, search engine rankings and expert status.
Believe me, it feels really nice to log into your email program and have
dozens of emails saying: “We have published your article here…”

One of the wonderful things about an Internet business
is the ability to create passive income. If you set
things up properly, you should be able to get away
with playing a little and still earn money!

Now go jump in a pile of leaves somewhere. :)

Do you sell physical products?

Friday, October 13th, 2006

My friend Michelle is looking for work at home Moms who sell physical products on their sites to submit their top questions about product photography, shipping and other questions relating to product sales at: Presenting Your Products

If you fill out the form you get free access to a teleseminar she’s hosting. Pretty good deal :)

Did I ever tell you about Mom Webs?

Friday, October 13th, 2006

I’ve mentioned how much I like Mom Webs hosting before.

This time, I thought I would copy and paste some of the emails I’ve sent to their customer service over the past few months to underscore how much I LOVE Mom Webs hosting. These aren’t emails asking for assistance, but rather the replies I sent after I got help from them.

Here goes:

Thank you thank you thank you!

Uh…. do you see a pattern here? ;)
Mom Webs is the hosting company that I’m going with for all my sites now. See what they have going on here.

PLR Articles Question: Everybody’s doing it?

Friday, October 13th, 2006

Hey there,

I’m a huge fan of private label rights articles. High quality plr articles, that is. I’ve seen some junk out there and even shelled out money for junk that never produced income for me. That’s why it’s a business journey, right? :)

Now that I know how to find good plr articles, I am profiting. A lot of wahms are concerned about the whole “duplicate content” issue. One way they phrase it is,

“What will my website visitors think when they see the same content on another site?”

This is a very intelligent question, albeit a tiny bit shortsighted. My friends Alice Seba and Mila Sidman of All Mom Content addressed this recently and they said I could post their wisdom here:

Stop and think about the following:

- Newspapers, magazines and television news run the same stories
all the time. Sometimes they are different, but not always.

- Some people have only one source of news and that’s the one
they stick with. What if that one source is you?

- The internet is HUGE. The chances of someone seeing the same
content really aren’t as big as you might think.

Will the information be of value to your audience? That’s what
they come to you for, information. Give them what they want!

All the best,
Alice Seba & Mila Sidman

I told Mila the other day that All Mom Content had literally changed the face of my business!

Instead of having to go out and hunt for great content, I get 50 pieces of top-quality content every month for a song. It saves me so much time and effort. I don’t have to search for freebies to use for bonuses either. In a word, it rocks. :)

My first internet marketing seminar!

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

I’m so excited… I’m going to the Women’s Power Summit! It’s right here in Atlanta, Ga, my hometown.

This will be my very first internet marketing seminar. Have you ever been to one of these large business seminars? I don’t know exactly what to expect but I’m sure the information will be incredible.

The speakers have been giving us little tidbits of their stuff with free weekly teleseminars. This Wednesday, Barbara Hemphill, A.K.A. “The Paper Tiger Lady” is sharing tips to help you improve your organization and increase your efficiency, which in turn will boost your online profits!

Are people unsubscribing? Good!

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

When you’re new to email marketing, it’s easy to get discouraged when people unsubscribe to your newsletter or ecourse. Especially when they fill out the little “why you unsubscribed” form in your newsletter management system.

Sometimes they say things like: “All you’re trying to do is sell me a product. The information is good, but I don’t want to buy anything.”

Guess what? When your list starts to grow, you get more unsubscribes. That’s a GOOD sign! It means you’re making offers and also learning about your subscribers… what they want, what they’ll respond to, etc. Don’t worry if you get people who unsubscribe because they’re offended at your sales message.

You don’t want them anyway.

You’re not running a non profit organization, you’re running a business, and the last time I checked, you’re in it to make money. And that’s ok. ;)

Don’t get me wrong – I believe in helping people and providing great information to your subscribers. But if you occasionally make a product offer, you’re doing great.

If you never offend anyone or never get any unsubscribes, you’re not trying hard enough.
