I Admit, There Are Ghosts In My (Marketing) Closet

Friday, August 25th, 2006

I would like to clear up a few myths about ghostwriting and talk a bit about
how ghostwriting can help you increase your online income.

Basically there are two ways this is true:

1) You can make money providing ghostwriting services

My friends Nell Taliercio and Kelly McCausey are hosting a teleseminar in a few days to teach Moms how to make money writing. You can get more info here: Ghostwriting Teleseminar

Providing ghostwritten articles may be an ideal way for you to get started with earning from home.

2) You can grow your existing income using ghostwritten content

Some work at home Moms aren’t aware of the benefits of using ghostwriters to increase their “VRE” or virtual real estate. Here’s the
honest truth:

If you are trying to write every word of your website, you’re going to spent too much time at the computer and limit your earning potential. While some of your
content should be unique, using content others have written is something all successful online marketers do.

Here is an awesome place to start:
Mom Content

This is a service I’ve been using for several weeks now and highly recommend. The articles are high quality and VERY cost effective.

Some ways you can put these to work for your business:
* Add them to your site and monetize with Google AdSense
* Use them in autoresponders and in your newsletter
* Use them to promote affiliate products
* Bunch some together and use them as a “bribe to subscribe”
* Offer them as a bonus to a paid product

Feel free to ask questions if you have them. :)

Work at Home Mom Disease: Small Thinking

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

Just in case the overaggressive spam dog ate this email:

Have you noticed that work at home Moms seem to have a sickness? Maybe we should call it Smallness Disease.

We tend to think small and limit ourselves. And we make decisions based on our small thinking that we end up regretting later… decisions that cost us money, time or hassle.

Here is an example. I was never one to think I had “what it takes” to build an infoproduct.

I almost built my first infoproduct by accident. And yet I’m getting awesome feedback and unsoliticed testimonials from it. If you don’t think you have what it takes, I challenge you to let the Sweetie of the Internet show you that you DO: Information Product Sweetie

When I put my product together, I went around looking for a way to manage my product and get affiliates. I found Paydotcom. Not the worst choice, but not the best either. I chose it for the wrong reasons: smallness again. :(

I didn’t think I would sell enough of my product to pay a monthly fee for my payment processing system and affiliate management system. I figured that Paydotcom’s fees, although a bit steep, would be ok since they only charged me when I made a sale.

Yucky, I know. I could have saved myself a lot of money if I had gone with a monthly subscription to a shopping cart/autoresponder/affiliate management system. Well, sometimes there’s a reason for things.

In the meantime my friends Lynette and Regina put together WahmCart. It’s the perfect solution for me! Especially now that I have two more products coming out very shortly. (Another thing I thought would “never” happen!)

Go take a look at WahmCart today

They’re even offering a 14-day trial for just a buck.

Take a look if you have an ecommerce site selling products.
Take a look if you don’t have an affiliate program.
Take a look if you DO.
Take a look if you need a great autoresponder.
Take a look if you think you won’t ever have an information product.
Take a look if you think you won’t ever have more than one. ;)

Stop thinking small Mom.

P.S. And don’t forget my special offer! You get my product at NO charge when you get your hands on anything Alice Seba offers. Reminder: Carrie’s Special

XSitePro – What’s CJ.com got to do with it?

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

If you’ve been promoting any affiliate programs
offered through Commission Junction, you’ve probably
noticed that companies are dropping like flies
out of CJ.com.

Grrr. This can be such a pain in the patootie.

Let’s say you’ve got some programs that you’ve
been promoting for some time. They’re performing
pretty well for you and so it’s worth your time
to go hunt down those affiliate links.

Yuck! Who wants to go through their site with a
finetooth comb (not to mention autoresponder
messages) to find and *change* those dead
affiliate links? Not me.

But ya gotta do it because if you don’t you’re
losing money. Ugh.

Here is where XSitePro is an affiliate marketer’s
dream. You see, you’ve put all your affiliate links
in XSitePro’s affiliate manager. Now, *all you have
to do* is change them ONCE, THERE.

Wow- you just saved yourself HOURS of time!

Or maybe you were a really smart cookie and created
pretty redirect links using XSitePro’s easy redirect
creating thing. (That’s the scientific term. ;)

All you have to do, again, is go change that ONE
link, and it changes your links ACROSS your ENTIRE
SITE!

That in itself is a huge selling point about
XSitePro. Since I’ve been using it to build sites,
I’ve had a couple of my favorite affiliate programs
change to a new system, and had all my links change.
It only took me *seconds* to make the change and
everything updated, sitewide.

Whew!

AdSense Microscope

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

UPDATE June 2008: Adsense Detective is no longer accepting customers. I now use a tool that is superior to A.D. called AdSpy Tracker. It provides more information and is a ONE time investment, not a monthly recurring charge. Read my review here: AdSpy Tracker

I signed up for Adsense Detective 3 months ago and wanted to test it thoroughly before making a recommendation here.

Here’s my honest opinion: I love it.

You’ve heard from everyone that you need to track your AdSense clicks in order to maximize your earnings. What are people clicking on, what ad size and color scheme do they like best, what placement, what pages, what sites, etc. If you have a lot of websites this could be a full time job! And yet if you want those really big AdSense checks, it’s necessary.

Enter AdSense Detective. It’s like someone put your site under a microscope and tells you with the click of a button:

where they click
when they click
what ad sizes and color schemes are working best
what pages they get click happy on
what pages need work

It even tells you where they land after they click.

AdSense channels can be a pain to work with when it comes to tracking especially if you have a lot of sites and want to track a lot of different variables.

Adsense Detective is so easy to use. All you do is insert a bit of javascript code (like a statcounter code) into your page. Since I use XSitePro, I only had to add it ONCE to my scripts page and it tracks everything, sitewide.

So far I’ve been able to “find” a couple of hot niches and turned those into 3 new sites based on the info I’ve learned from Adsense Detective.

And here’s a neat tip for you: If you find out what your most popular clickin’ pages are, you can build a little box on your home page that says “Favorite Pages” or “Favorite Articles” or “Don’t Miss” or something like that to funnel traffic to these performing pages.

Click here to go to AdSense Detective. Highly recommended, and very inexpensive too!

I get by with a little help from my friends

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

I don’t know where I would be without the help of my online friends.

It looks like doing business on the Internet is going to get easier and easier for us work at home moms, thanks to the efforts of other wahms.

Here is what I mean: For one, if you have a product and affiliate program, you use some type of management system like Clickbank, Paydotcom, or some other.

If you’re like me and many other wahms, you researched your options for each and went with what you could afford at the time… even though it might not have been the best choice for you, long term. :(

My friends and fellow Mom Masterminds members Lynette and Regina have created the WahmCart, and I’ve been a happy beta tester for a little while now. They’ve created a VERY user friendly system = a total shopping cart, payment processor and autoresponder system in one.

If you’ve looked at some of the high line systems like QuickSales and were impressed with their offerings but scared by the monthly cost, you MUST look at this!

Go here: ===> WahmCart

Second, if you’re a website owner you are always looking for good content for your site(s). You have 3 options basically: write it yourself, use reprint articles, or hire a ghostwriter. Each of these has their advantages and disadvantages. There IS another option however:

Private Label Rights Articles

The problem with these is that it’s hard to find high quality content with these, or the articles are all about golf, mesothilioma (not even sure how to spell that!) diamond earrings or some other “hot” niche, and if that’s not your niche, you’re basically out of luck!

My also Mom Masterminds friends, member Mila and owner Alice (sound familiar?!) have created a SUPER affordable private label rights articles membership that includes dozens of MOM oriented articles, recipes and product reviews that you can use, and even EDIT for your own use for a VERY low price.

Check it out here ===> Mom Content

I’m a member and I can tell you that the articles are better than another article membership site I joined recently, at *half* the price.
