Hopefully you’re using your newsletter sign up “Thank you” page to either:
- sell a product or
- build your list by promoting another free ecourse or newsletter
If you’ve got a captive audience who wants to hear from you (which they’ve evidenced by signing up for your newsletter in the first place!), they’re very likely to take the next action you suggest.
Well here’s another bit of oft unused virtual real estate:
The UNSUBSCRIBE page.
I unsubbed from a list recently and got an offer on the unsubscribe page. It struck me as brilliant… it got my attention and I actually asked for the freebie. Here is, in a nutshell, what the offer was:
Thank you so very much for your feedback. We appreciate your taking time out of your busy schedule to give us your important thoughts so we can help to serve our subscribers better in the future.
We hope we get the opportunity to serve you again in the future, as well. We would also like to offer you a gift out of our gratitude for the time you spent with us. If you fill out the form below, we will send you (free report).
This is normally a $520 value, but we want to offer it to you here for free as our gift to you.
Sometimes our subscribers leave because they thought they were our target market but weren’t.
Lately I’ve gotten responses from people who unsubscribe to one of my lists that sound like:
“I’m not a Mom”
“My kids are older, this doesn’t apply to me”
“I thought all the tips would come in one day” etc.
I’m thinking about how I can use my unsubscribe pages now to offer those people something that will meet their needs.
“As a thank you, I thought you might find this XXXX (free report or ebook or what have you) useful”
You could monetize that freebie with affiliate links. Your subscriber leaves with a great taste in their mouth, and you still make money from that unsubscribed person.
