Record AdSense Day- Woohoo!

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Well I’ve had a goal for a couple of months now for daily Adsense income. I missed it by pennies yesterday…but it was my biggest day ever! I’m stoked. I’ve been working to make small changes per Joel Comm’s Adsense book. (Click the link to read my review and free Adsense tips.)

I knew as soon as my newest site hit the search engines that my Adsense income would go way up. It finally happened, and I’m getting some Yahoo and MSN and to a lesser extent, Google traffic. Google used to be my best friend but lately, I don’t know, she loves one site of mine but the others not so much lately. And it doesn’t make sense to me, because the one site gets around 300 visitors a day JUST from Google searches, and I’m soooo bad about updating that one! Plus it doesn’t have nearly the incoming links as my main site. Who knows?

Anyhow, I’m very excited about this. I’ve found one ad setting that is consistently getting a CTR 4 times my previous average. Be sure to check out Joel’s book if you want to increase your Adsense earnings!

Getting a Fatter AdSense Check

Making more money with AdSense

AdSense, AdSense, this post is all about Google AdSense. If you’re a website owner and aren’t currently utilizing AdSense to maximize your income, I hope I can convince you to do so…and if you are but are earning only pennies a day, I hope I can help you get a fatter check from Google every month. :)

When I built my first website, a friend told me I should drop my AdSense ads because they would cause people to click away from my site.

**News flash**
People are going to click away from your site and that’s ok…but you might as well earn some money when they do it!

A lot of the people who come to your site are just going to be “looky-lous” with no intention of buying what you’re selling. Or they may enjoy your content but what you have to offer just isn’t exactly what they’re looking for. By serving AdSense ads on your pages you’re actually offering them value…and getting paid to do it!

Long story short, it’s a good thing I didn’t listen to my friend because my AdSense check makes up the bulk of my online income. BUT…I did have to learn a few tricks in order to make that happen. I recently purchased Joel Comm’s “Adsense Secrets” ebook and immediately started implementing the changes he recommends. Since then, the CtRs (click-through rates) on all my sites has gone up…on one site I’ve nearly doubled them!

Here are some of the tips I’ve learned lately about AdSense.

  • Provide plenty of great content.
Maybe you’ve seen these sites that provide pretty yucky unoriginal content but have huge AdSense ads slapped up. Not only could those types of sites get your AdSense account cancelled, but the visitor is unlikely to return (to click on more ads!). And, the more content you have, the more ads you can show, which means more clicks. It’s all about meeting needs really. Your visitor is looking for information. So give it to them!
  • Be vigilant about testing and tracking.
You know those channel thingies in your AdSense account? Are you using them to your full advantage? Before getting Joel’s book, I have to admit that the only tracking I was doing was across different domains…I wanted to see which site was earning what. The channels confused me. BUT, I was amazed to find that after adding new channels to track different formats, I could quickly see which ad style was WAY outperforming the others. That means more money for me.
  • Strike a balance between blending your ads and making them stand out.
What do I mean by that? Well…it’s best if your ads look like part of your content, and Joel’s book explains how to do that. However, don’t be so afraid to show your ads that you keep them tucked away in spots that the visitor’s eye doesn’t catch them. Joel’s book teaches you the best placement for your ads to get those clicks!

The Importance of a Business Mentor

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

I believe strongly in the importance of having a mentor for your small business…do you? A business mentor can dramatically cut your learning curve, saving you tons of time and getting you into profit much faster. A mentor can help you avoid pitfalls by showing you what works. Sounds good to me!

Here are some thoughts on the importance of having a business mentor.

Can’t Afford Article Announcer? Try this

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

Everyone’s abuzz about Jason Potash’s Article Announcer but for some the price is a bit steep. Articles are so powerful though and we’re all looking for ways to utilize articles in our marketing (especially since Google seems to be smoking crack lately). I love using free content articles to help build sites more quickly as well as the “web leverage” publishing my own articles to these free content sites gives me. The problem is, submitting and finding articles takes time, and hiring someone else to do it takes money.

Thanks to BJ over at Adventures in netmarketing for letting me know about this!

It’s a software program that makes it possible for you to find and then add articles quickly and easily to your site. This thing is going to save you tons of time if you use free content articles! I’m excited about putting it to work. It’s going to save me hours every week, no doubt. And the price is right.
